How can I reset update orchestrator tasks to defaults?

So I was hit with the bug people are talking about with pc being woke etc by update orchestrator.

This happened on only 1 of my 3 pcs oddly enough after a recent update.

Ages ago this happened and I’d long since disabled wake timers for that very reason.

Problem is - the pc in question won’t sleep once it is awake, due to the same task.

In an effort to sort this mess and regain parity amongst my 3 pcs, I used psexec to look at the update orchestrator folders amongst them.

All 3 are slightly different and I’m unsure which one is “right” or out of the box.

I have noticed on my main pc I’m not getting update notifications like on my secondary so thinking that may have something to do.

Either way, I’m looking for a way to get the folder back to stock. How windows sets it. A way to know which tasks should be present and how they should be set.

If I'm understanding correctly, you need to see what all the task should be and their normal settings.

Here's mine, untouched by me, the way MS has it.

Is this what you're looking for?

That is more or less what im looking for. At least enough to get me started. Still looking for a way to delete/recreate the folder at defaults or something, but that'll at least let me know whats missing/extra in each of mine.

for example just looking at the pc im working from now this is what I have

    - - - Updated - - -

seems your missing MusUx_UpdateInterval which I have on all 3 pc's and i believe is regarding displaying notifications of some sort.

and im missing universal orchestrator start on 2 of my pcs. The one that does have it, is the one that wont sleep :P

also worth noting my "Backup Scan" task is there, enabled, scheduled to run but has never been ran. trying to figure out what thats related to. I know i disabled windows defender auto scans at some level and thinking maybe its tied to that.

Tell ya what. I've taken the folder of the tasks from C:\Windows\System32\Tasks and put them in a zip file. They are of file type "FILE", but can be opened with notepad and are just html text with the settings for each. Here it is if it will help reconstruct or give you the data to enter.

You could replace the entire folder of orchestrator task with the one in the zip. I'd back it up first.

The one you are missing, the Start, here is the exported task. Unzip it and use the option in Task Scheduler to Import it.

sorry, was at the gym for a bit. Just got back and im going back at this. Thank you SO much for going through the effort to get all that together.

I did try to export the start task from another pc and import it to mine, and if i recall, it gave me trouble. It was preliminary though and may not have started task scheduler as admin.

Will keep ya posted how this goes

    Edit:
got it sorted, and archived those zips god forbid :) Thanks again, appreciate it VERY much!
