Jamis that's what i wanted to know. So it won't force you to update to 1909 correct ?

I wanted to click "check for updates" to see if it's available but i was afraid it might update itself. Should i do that ?

Also, was the file explorer issue fixed ? I know from what Dalchina said it was kinda nasty stuff. Don't want to install 1909 if that issue isn't fixed yet.

What I recall when the Enablement Package first came out, it was optional..... not forced.

So if i click on "check for updates" i'm guessing if it finds it won't download it then. I just hope they fixed the issue with file explorer. Read some more about it and it was kinda nasty stuff.

You'll see it, if there, as an Optional Update.

Yup it's there just checked and it's there alright.

Just one thing : do i have to restart my PC if i did this ? I mean if i clicked on "check for updates" and W10 found something ? Sorry for asking but i'm kind of a noob with W10 and i'm using fast startup.

Yes, a Restart will be required if you take the 1909 optional update. Just the nature of the beast. Needs to do some setup work on reboot. It's very short.

I mean not if i downloaded and updated. But ONLY if i clicked on "check for updates" WITHOUT installing 1909. I'm using fast startup not normal startup so that's why i'm asking.

Thank you for the info Tomcat, really helpful. BTW do you have any idea if the file explorer issue was fixed now when 1909 was re-release or not ?

Also i'm guessing if i use fast startup it's ok if i don't restart my PC if i DID NOT download 1909 right ? I have fast startup enabled not normal startup.

Is this with the search issues?

This KB, the 1909 Update Enablement doesn't contain any fixes or new code. It's simply a quick switch to turn on dormant/hidden code that is already in 1903 from previous updates.
