Can I install one update at a time?

On my Windows 10 Pro, verson 1903 (Build 18362.535), I have a number of Microsoft office applications, version 2003. For the most part, they work fine. Recently, I went to Windows Update > Advanced options & marked "Receive updates for other Microsoft products when you update Windows"

When I checked updates, there were about 15 or so listed that I installed. However, every time I opened Word, I received a warning message regarding my global template "macros.dot" that I had created way back in Window XP, many years ago. I tried uninstalling various updates, but couldn't correct the problem, so I restored from a Macrium Reflect backup, which put me back before updates were installed.

What I would like to do is install these updates one at a time, so I can check for problems. With Windows Update, it seems that I can only choose "Download", which downloads & installs all of them.

Any ideas how I can do this?

    Thank you in advance!

Updates can be installed one at a time but may require a prior update before installation.

Alternatively all updates can be installed and some may be able to be uninstalled.

This can be challenging as it requires time to read the installation or prerequisites for each Windows update.

The Microsoft catalog can be used once you know the KB#.

Thank you for the link & your response! Back in Windows XP, I would get notices of several updates & could uncheck all but 1. This allowed me to install & check them 1 at a time. I would install them using a True Image option called Try & Decide. If it ruined anything, I could reject the update. Otherwise, I would repeat the option for each update. I miss that option.

Since I still have a Windows XP machine with all the updates, I suppose I could go into Add/Remove programs, look at the office updates (which have the date installed), go to the link you provided, & then install them 1 at a time (oldest first); then check the result before applying another update.

I have True Image with Try & Decide installed on my Win10 computer also.

The above method would be labor intensive, but do you think that would work?

Just a question, was your WinXP a Home/Home Premium or Professional? WinXP Pro was available as either 32-bit or 64-bit and that could make a difference. Office 2010 was the first to be either 32-bit or 64-bit.

Thank you for your response. Whoops, good point I forgot to mention that. My WinXP is Pro 32-bit, & My Office 2003 is also 32-bit, but of course, will work on my 64-bit Win10.

Will the Office updates be different for different operating systems?
Will Win10 refuse to install an office update that is incompatible with 64-bit?

For a long time I had been using Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003 on Windows 10.
You should be able to use it on one computer.

Thank you. I've been using it in Windows 10 now for about 2 years, but yesterday I tried installing updates, which caused a problem.

I have Office 2000 on a couple of Notebooks but not the Outlook part and no macros, just the basics. I haven't much cared for Outlook since back with Office 97 and Microsoft had to issue Outlook 98 as a replacement for Outlook 97 to correct some problems.

I'm using Outlook, but not Outlook 2003. It's just Word, Excel, & Access. Do you think if I copy down all the Office Professional 2003 Security Updates & all the Compatibility updates, put them in date order, & try installing 1 at a time, that it would be feasible?

You might check the Windows/Microsoft Update Catalog to see what is available then download them. I haven't tried that as for my 'work' I need to see what the clients see so take them as offered.
