    i want to install sledgehammer just before it forces 1903 on me and that's why i need to know exactly when i will get forced to install 1903

    for example the date is random for when you are getting forced to install 1903 for the people who are on 1803. for some they are getting forced now and for others 1 month ago. it is random for them

    is it also random for me or i have an exact date when it will force me to install 1903?

    The rolllout to 1803 users seems to be deliberately staggered by MS so as not to overload their servers with everyone updating at once.

    The 365 days deferral means you won't be forced to update until 365 days after the release date, but how soon after that will be random.

    I attempted several registry tweaks to defer feature updates and they were all reset after a check for updates.
    I have 1809, Bree, do you think I can successfully use the 365-day delay here;

    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX\Settings
    DeferFeatureUpdatesPeriodInDays

    ok. assume i put defer for 60 days. how does that work? more than 60 days have passed since when 1903 was released so it is 60 days from when i set the deferral

    Do you have Home or Pro? That registry setting is the one that is changed by Pro in its advanced setting. It is not clear if Home will take notice of those registry values. Some 'intended for Pro' registry settings work in Home, while other are ignored.

    A 60 day feature update defer period would allow 1903 to be installed today. I was in a similar situation where I wanted it to update an 1803 machine to 1809 rather than 1903. I set defer for 90 days, that excluded 1903 but allowed windows update to see and update to 1809.

    can you also please answer my question?

    if i set it to defer for 365 days then it is 365 days from when 1903 was released

    if it is less than 365 days and it is also less than number of days since when 1903 was released then it is from when deferal was set

    am i right?

    I have 1809 Home with GP edit working. I posted in this thread because I also use 1809 like the OP, however; I have a modified version of Home that included GP edits that appear to be functional. Should I create my own thread? I have new info to share.

    @cns00, the deferral is always calculated as the release date plus the number of days you set to defer feature updates.
