Windows Update Shortcut on Desktop

    Windows Update Shortcut on Desktop


    Right click any space on desktop.
    Click NEW
    Click SHORTCUT


    Panel comes up for location -
    Enter - "ms-settings:windowsupdate" in the location bar.
    Click NEXT


    Panel comes up for shortcut name -
    Enter a name for the shortcut e.g WINDOWS UPDATE.
    Click FINISH.


    The shortcut is now on your desktop.

    To change the icon -
    Right click the shortcut.
    Click PROPERTIES
    Click WEB DOCUMENT
    Click CHANGE ICON.
    Select one from the array that comes up.


    By clicking the desktop shortcut - SETTINGS/WINDOWS UPDATE screen immediately shows.
    Here is my desktop icon -

    Thank you for the tutorial, thank you for sending us the shortcut.Those system commands where they can be placed to add more to the desktop and make the shortcut faster.

    The only material differences are that the TenForumsTutorial assigns a more commonly-used icon for the WU shortcut & its shortcut initiates the check for WU without any further user action.

    Did you know you can pin a settings page to Start as a tile? Just right-click on it......

    ...and you get a tile with it's own specific icon,
