Had to pull a one week old motherboard and return it and which is being replaced with another of the same make and model. The Windows 10 registration & MS approval is on the boot drive, but will I have a problem with Windows 10 because of the change?

Since changing the motherboard is considered a new computer, you may need to activate using the activation troubleshooter like in the tutorial below by selecting the computer name for the old motherboard to transfer the license from.

My understanding is that if one replaces a new mobo which is of the same make and model as the old one, no activation will be necessary.
Am I wrong all these times ?

I went through the same exact scenario on my old pc and Windows 10 almost 1 1/2 years ago.
Provided the new mother board is identical to the original you won't have to do anything other than maybe update it's uefi, if it isn't the most recent one.
As far as Windows 10 goes, you won't have to do a thing..
I just had to replace my motherboard last week after it was killed by a faulty case. It was an identical replacement, but I did end up having to use the activation troubleshooter to activate afterwards.
Each motherboard has a unique ID number, so you may have to re-activate with the troubleshooter.
Hi Brink, the tutorial is perfectly clear and it is what I expect to go through. This means that I have to call the Customer Center, because I didn't use my ms.live account. No matter, it's a minor hassle.
The above is the most likely scenario because Microsoft identifies each motherboard uniquely, but I read somewhere that it's the bios ID is used for identification. Regardless, let's wait until the mobo is back and will post here the procedure I had to use.
