Installed kb4046355 and it removes Windows Media Player from PC.
I've just reported this on Windows Insider Feedback Hub:
Installed kb4046355 and it removes Windows Media Player from PC. And installing Build 16299.15 doesn't reinstate it
I installed kb4046355 and it removed Windows Media Player from my Dell Latitude laptop which has been on the Windows Insider program almost from the start.
I paused installing 16299.15 whilst looking for a solution - and was able to see Windows Media Player version 16299.15 in the NewOS folder.
Other web sites encouraged me to believe that I should get a full Windows 10 install from 16299.15, so I un-paused it and allowed it to download again – I used UUPtoISO to create an ISO and then went ahead installing it.
I still do not have any trace of Windows Media Player on my laptop - other than my AppData\Local\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\CurrentDatabase_400.wmdb (which is 153MB) .
dism /online /Get-Features
- does not list it as it did before kb404635 was installed
- and Windows Features/Turn Windows features on or off does not list it.
How do I get Windows Media Player 12 reinstalled?
