Explorer crash/restart loop build 9926
[new thread started from post in "explorer.exe crash loop caused by ntdll.dll"]
Hi All
I have a Dell 9150 (yes, it's pretty old!) on which I have been running all of the various W10-64 releases.
Up to 9926 I have not had major issues, other than Office 2010 outlook and Word throwing CRT errors on launch.
9926 installed well, but after updates for Office 2010 and W10 OS I now get the explorer restart loop, every second or so.
Eventually, after 20 - 40 restarts, the cycle stops, but with taskbar icons and start menu tiles and icons missing.
Restarting explorer in the task/service list restarts the looping process.
Can anyone suggest the best things/way to look for to debug - or at least identify - the issue?
Thanks

alijcam - please start your own topic.
Please include this report with it:
Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).
FYI - If we're looking for Event ID 41 errors (unexplained shutdowns), there's more info on that here: Windows Kernel event ID 41 error "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first" in Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 R2
While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility: HWMONITOR | Softwares | CPUID
-----------------
I can't actually do anything with the W10 installation as it crashes every second or so, but I'm pretty sure its not a temperature issue as the W7 installation on the same machine runs just fine.
I have opened the W10 event logs using the W7 installation on the same machine and I see these sorts of errors:
The description for Event ID 5973 from source Microsoft-Windows-Immersive-Shell cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

I have attached all of the event logs since this started happening
Please let me know if I should look in any other logs...
I *can* open various other tasks such as the command line, IE11, control panel etc. from the task manager; IE11 allows almost normal operation, as does CMD although the focus keeps on changing when Explorer restarts.
Many thanks
