My reading of the Event Viewer is that two large updates was more than permitted, overloading the system...maybe someone will correct me.
    Agree with Doogie.

Total side issue, if you want to get rid of that CAPI2 error, there's a fix. It's related to backups.

    Hi,

Dencal, what's really odd is that everybody's update experience is consistently inconsistent. I, too, have an i7, 75/75 net, and my whole thing, from Check for Updates all the way to Desktop, was 22 minutes. Go figure.
    Couldn't agree more.
What I do observe though is that it becomes a lot more consistent on an error free system .
Keep an eye on Event Viewer and resolve as much probs as you possibly can.

    Cheers,

Yes, it does involve some real machine code though. If anyone needs it, I can put it here but as it is machine dependent I can't guarantee success.

    14393.969: Lost TorGuard App

Lost Torguard App(v0.3.64) after restart. Manual installation from the catalog, it took about 20 minutes. Uninstall/re-install to recover the VPN App. The previous one was simply perfect here.

Still stuck at 10% and I did delete the windows update downloads. The stupid thing won't install and my cpu fans on non stop. W10 was working perfect until this latest botched update. I am done with Windoze 10.

    CAP12 error Event4...Windows Answers Forum.....Downloaded Update Checker, clean.....sfc /scannow.....perfect.
Solution for CAP12 error4 using Command Prompt (Admin)....their advice "DO NOT DO THIS WITHIN 10 DAYS OF CREATOR UPDATE".

Which of course in another way makes sense, why bother trying to solve problems on what will soon be superceded.

You just have to restart to wake-up WU and the % will be higher. Relax, its only a KB file.

    Oh Dear....

Well....what a strange 15 hours I've just had with this update.

Was happily pottering away on my laptop when weird things started to happen. Everything I tried to do took, quite literally, about a minute or two to execute. After about 4 re-starts decided to check windows update as had a similar problem a while ago. Sure enough there was the update TRYING to download......stuck at 5% for half an hour or so. So I googled the update and found some advice on how to fix these kind of issues from a previous problem update. This all took up to this point about 2 hours as everything was now even SLOWER to open/execute. Anyway.....ended up downloading the update from Microsoft site and trying to install from my desktop. After an hour and a half of waiting and no sign of the progress bar moving even a few millimetres I seriously thought of slinging my laptop in the bin (not really!). Anyway, instead I went to bed and left it as it was getting late.

Woke up this morning to see my laptop had turned off......great I thought......until I started windows. And the same problem was there.......everything SLOW SLOW SLOW.......unusable....so I tried two System restores......error messages both......restarted windows and as I'm typing this everything appeared fine......until 10 seconds ago when the music I was playing in the background via MusicBee started repeating a 1 second clip of music over and over......

    Lets just see what happens......

    Edit***

Well....10 minutes ago I tried to open a few folders and task manager.....and I'm still waiting for them to appear...

What the hell is going on?
