Welcome to NZ, Dona!
After missing two updates Lumia 640 now updated. Didn't have to jump thru any hoops to get it either.
Hi,
Downloaded and installed. Impressed with how Disk Clean got rid of all the installation files including Windows.old.
Cheers,
I'm just curious about something here.
I read in all the insider upgrade threads, how members are always running Update Cleanup after the upgrade, and just want to know... why?
***this is directed at PC users and not Phone, as the answer is obvious then***
I mean, now, that the free from Win7 or Win 8 to Win10 upgrade is over, Microsoft has changed the rollback time frame from 30 days to 10 days, which is more than enough time to decide if you need to rollback, and Windows will do it automatically at the appropriate time, during the daily auto-maintenance.
Or, if another upgrade comes in the 10 day time frame, the Windows.old and ~BT folders will just be overwritten anyhow.
Basically I'm asking, why are members that have enough disk space(so Windows Phone Insiders are exempt from the question), going through the trouble?
Basically, I don't want anything that doesn't have to be on the system disk. Even games are installed on another disk. I make ISO out of the .esd first before I do actual update so downloaded installation and windows.old are not needed any more. ISO is stored on another disk and on an external. Basically I would have same thing at 5 places !!! And that's not counting full MR backup before and after the updates !!
Once update is installed and I'm sure I am not going back, windows.old does not contain one single bit I would want or need. Bt folder does not contain anything useful after making ISO and with updates coming so thick and often, it just may interfere with next one. I already had a case when download of new build download was corrupted because Bt folder was still there.
Automatic delete after 30/10 days is not 100% reliable either.
