Hi there
American TV has these days no monopoly of being mostly rubbish --TV worldwide seems to be as bad -- even now they are re-branding and re-marketing those hideous "Reality TV" shows as "Observational Documentaries" !!!.
Hollywood also seems to have no NEW ideas -- mostly remakes of older successful stuff -- and while the effects might be slicker I don't think I've ever seen a REMAKE that's been better than the original.
Even music seemed to have "Died the death" at about the turn of the Millenium with a few rare exceptions.
What's up with our youngsters -- has the incredible over supply of "media Studies" in Universities killed off the imagination and writing talent of new upcoming directors.
At least FICTION (Old fashioned Books) is still alive as a decent art form.
Even Festivals like Glastonbury have to bring out Pensioned off Rock greats from the late 60's - 70's for their main gigs. !!!
Cheers

Oops! Missed that one, sorry.
(I was wondering if it was 'old news')
Windows up to and including 3.1 was a shell over DOS. W95 to XP, mixed bag. Only Vista has broken that mold so those are big brakes if you look at kernel. Win3.11 brought some changes in system itself that led to NT that provided passage to Win 2000 that brought XP to light and "real" windows for domestic use. So, there were some real brakes but with "in between" editions. Looking at it that way both ways can be considered true, Windows as whole system and versions with enough difference to be considered new.
Lots of us older folks went thru all those stages one by one without missing a beat. I know that myself at some time have been thru every version since first DOS including all service packs and "half versions" (95-97-98- Millennium or all the versions of NT for instance).
I've been reading about Microsoft getting rid of WMP in Win10. I plan on updating my Win 8.1 to Win 10, when it's available. Would someone suggest a good player to replace WMN, for a average user. I was told to use VCL Player, but a friend of mine has it and she says it want play her MIDI files.
