Ive noticed too about an hout ago, that this AU seems to do something with the partitions during the upgrade process. I noticed there are now new recovery partitions on all my Windows devices about 450MB~ at the end of each disk, which weren't there before. This is insane, that Windows re-size your disk (which is dangerous and can always lead to corruption) without notifying or warn you. I guess something went wrong whatever for you sadly there. This AU is total garbage, but of course all the user on here be like "awesome patch :P" who just use their PC for Word.
Also on one of my tablets which had a sd-card in there, the sd-card is now corrupt. All folders are gone on the disk and it has lots of LOST&FOUND entry.
It's good to explicitly take a backup and take control over when the install happens, and unplug drives etc.
But what about Joe Public who is going to get updated one day when he/she isn't expecting it and is just using their computer? It's really not so good in that scenario as they won't have had an opportunity to make a backup first, so it needs to be 100% reliable.
My user folders like Documents etc, are on my Data drive. If I unplug it during an upgrade I'll get errors on boot up even before I do the upgrade. I've been doing this since DOS and never unplugged any drives during an upgrade or clean install. This is the first time ever that I have lost a drive in the process.
