Yes, I understood your post I quoted. What I could not, cannot understand with my limited booze-damaged brain is the relevance. Yes, your list quoted above gives some good examples of autocratic, oppressive countries and conflicts where and when that slogan has not been valid and those with nothing to hide have even lost their lives because of the privacy violations. The slogan is valid when talking about Windows and its statistical telemetrics.
Just over 60 posts in this relatively short discussion, yet our members have already managed to bring in Goebbels, wars and oppressive governments as warning examples about privacy violations and risks which limited privacy involves. Because this has nothing to do with the topic of this conversation, I fail to see the relevance and cannot understand use of these examples in any way when talking about Windows. Not even when the examples are used to explain the origins of a slogan.
I've tried to get an answer to some basic, simple questions about what are the risks I'm taking accepting the default privacy settings, what can happen to me and my life "giving voluntarily up my privacy" regarding Windows, what is the harm possibly caused to me and my life because I allow Windows call home? Instead of getting answered I've read about Joseph Goebbels, oppressive governments and such.
Of course I know that I will not get any valid answers to my questions because as we all know, nothing will happen to me nor to my life even when I choose to accept the default privacy settings in Windows. No harm, no problems. I will be just fine, exactly as some other user who uses every possible method available to stop Windows calling home. Our life will continue in exactly the same way. MS will not reveal to my ex-wives the names I use for them in my diary and correspondence, they will not inform local religious communities about my visits to sinful websites, they do not call the authorities to tell them that I had admitted driving twice the speed limit in an email to a friend. Microsoft will not empty my bank account, nor will they sell my credit card information. Their employees do not use my browsing history as coffee table conversation topic, to get good laughs. My house will not be burn, I will not get arrested, I don't lose the little I have because of my Windows privacy settings. Really.

On the subject "Relevance" how can you make a correlation between the events depicted in your statement ATT below and W10.
Most of the events occurred before the advent of computers, and at no time was my statement, which you obviously find distasteful, ever used in reference to any of them.
I feel your question is specious because no one can know for sure how sharing personally identifiable information (PID) with Microsoft may impact them negatively. What is clear is that many people are harmed as a result of their PID getting into the wrong hands. IMO it is prudent, not paranoid, to limit access to PID in every area of life whenever possible unless it serves me in some way to share it. I understand that you trust nothing bad will come of it, but is there some tangible way that sharing information with Microsoft via Windows 10 actually benefits the user?
Victek...your quote?...but is there some tangible way that sharing information with Microsoft via Windows 10 actually benefits the user?
Access to the Cloud...All your computers synchronised, saving space on your HD or SSD, your personal files and details are never lost even with total computer failure, access to the cloud on any computer when perhaps visiting relatives on the other side of the world, and while there taking hundreds of photos which can then be safely stored.
Cortana for local services, Maps for directions, Weather, all if you give your location.

In addition, completely understanding that this makes me a laughing stock not only for most of the tinfoil hat brigade but for most of the Windows 10 users in general: I always participate in all Customer Experience programs if and when available and if the company is a major player, a company I previously know and trust like Microsoft. Always.
This makes me feel I participate in the development and improvement of the operating systems and software I use. I do not care how ridiculous you might see this, but as I have done this since early versions of Windows, in addition to participating in all possible Windows, Office, Azure and Visual Studio beta and preview programs, I want to think my opinion and how I use the PC matters. Of course I know it's far fetched but for instance when a bug or oddly working feature I have reported has been fixed, I feel good.
That's me. I have never seen or heard a single piece of evidence showing that the usage statistics and data my or anyone else's machines send to MS has caused any harm or issues to anyone. Until clear proof of the opposite is shown I will continue to believe this and trust Microsoft.
