It seems Microsoft have given up on repairing this fix so it's time to move along.
I gave up on waiting for Microsoft long ago and fixed it myself for all my Win10 machines.

So I just read about KB5034441 and the won't fix news on another website. KB5034441 installed on my system back in Jan/Feb, but I've never had any update issues. Maybe because I don't use either Bitlocker Drive Encryption or Device Encryption. But I looked at my WinRE partition and it only has 7 MB left on it after this update.

I'm just wondering if I'm looking at future problems? I read that it can't be uninstalled. How often does new stuff get put on the recovery partition? Should I make room now for the next bloated WinRE update, or just leave it be? Thanks for your time.

I've hidden the update on the only Pro Notebook I couldn't fix out of 6 but only because it's my wife's and wasn't wanting to do a clean install but she's not able to use it for awhile so will do the install. Two of those 6 I have upgraded to Win11 using an unsupported tweak and 1 is running Linux Mint.

Does Microsoft have official instructions on what do when the recovery partition is before the OS partition?

If you don't mind giving up a little space ..... all I did was delete the partition and then created a simple partition in it's place.

I also did this when I had multiple "Recovery" Partitions and one was at the start. How they were created is a mystery.

Then I reduced C: and created a proper Recovery Partition at the end of the disk.

OK, but you could not really get rid of that first partition, is that correct?

I believe if you get rid of first partition you will impact booting as the bcd store would have the incorrect partition to find C:.

You could update the bcd store through commands or even Macrium's fix boot process.

For me losing such a small amount of space on my 512GB boot drive was not worth the hassle.

Now I know there are purists here who would argue otherwise. Each to his / her own.
