For 99% of the general population, just leave this update alone for now. Microsoft is making a new fix so you don't have to deal with all the command line stuff. DON'T HIDE THE UPDATE. JUST LEAVE IT ALONE WITH THE ERROR MESSAGE.

    Attachment 403631
    Good.
I'm tech ignorant and I'm afraid to make any modifications. I'll keep waiting until a new update.

I've just come across it after a clean install of Windows 10. Got rid of one problem update by doing a feature upgrade - and then this one popped up. They can't possibly expect people to start messing about with resizing drive partitions. So yes I hope a replacement update comes along soon.

One question I have though is - I was about to go ahead and do the upgrade to Windows 11, once Windows 10 was fully updated. Presumably it wouldn't be a good idea to do this with this glitchy update waiting to be installed? Yes or no?

As to why I didn't install Windows 11 in the first place - long story.

But honestly - what a ridiculously stupid Windows update! One that doesn't fit where it's supposed to go! Or whatever.

A clean install of the latest Windows 10 does not have the issue.

That's useful to know thank you. My usb of Windows 10 is 22H2 but it was made quite some time ago. So if I do a new one now then this update doesn't pop up, is that right?

Thanks - that's useful to know. Why would that be if the issue is that the partition is too small?

The old install has a 530MB Recovery Partition and the new install has 546MB.

I mentioned earlier that I had blocked the update, and I asked if I needed to unblock it if a fix was released. Nobody knew. It's still blocked, but I just visited WU,

    KB5034441 Security Update for Windows 10 (21H2 and 22H2) - Jan. 9-wu.jpg

So, what now? Unblock and see if will install, re-block?
