For those who have the update that disappears when you click to install it, go see immediately in the history of updates, you should have an error message and error code for this update. I had to uninstall KB5020435 to be able to install the 22h2 update. I had an error code that ended in 6019 I believe. It should come back automatically.
I wish things are that simple. My error code was 0x80246017, and I don't have KB5020435 installed so it's a dead end. BTW, MS lists like 6 or 7 error codes of the format 0x8024xxxx on the "troubleshooting WU problems", and when you chose next step, it suggests generic steps: run WU troubleshooter, check if your disk has no errors, is your remote disk is accessible, etc. Same as MS community; each similar error has completely different cause and (re)solution.
MS in notorious for this- if it works then OK, if it doesn't then good luck.

If you can't install it from windows update you can try to install it manually, it's the same KB5015684 obtained with windows update.

Windows 10 Version 22H2 is coming in October 2022 ---> KB5015684 Provides Quick Windows 10 22H2 Upgrade - Ed Tittel On the Ed Tittel page click on the links DeskModder.de or .MSU x64 version of the upgrade.

    KB5015684 Funktionsupdate auf die Windows 10 22H2 (19045) [Manueller Download] - Deskmodder.de

Do dism and sfc /scannow commands before and/or after installing it.

    Thank you for the links.

But it isn't supposed to be like that. WU seems to be an attempt to make a foolproof, bulletproof, very robust and smart system for updating Windows. Yet very simple to use so virtually anyone, people with almost zero computer literacy can learn to click on a single button to update and then restart computer. But it fires back due to MS created a monster, a code that probably no one of their coders completely understand.
What I find fascinating are so many different error codes but none of them will tell you what does it mean. Even MS doesn't ask you what was the code to proceed in different direction but they boldly put all common codes in a single "troubleshooting step".
I am coder myself and use negative numbers from -1, -2, up to the number I need in a certain application. It helps me in the development process to debug the code easier but later, if a customer got -22, I know there was an error e.g. loading upper filters for a device. Then I can reply very specifically, or ask for more details of the circumstances when and why this happened. I don't think it's the best approach but it certainly is not a generic error like with WU, and I won't reply with "reinstall your windows" as a third troubleshoot step.
Why those files you posted can be done manually through non official channels? It just shows how bad WU and MS is coding its stuff.
The very least thing, if the automatic update failed, I could be offered official download link for update cab with some sane explanation why I had to do it manually instead automatically.

The bottom question is why is Microsoft keeping an answer secret from me so I have to search youtube, tenforums, google and visit unofficial sites to get my computer updated?

I still can't get the 22H2 update via WU, but it's available via Windows Update Assistant as the first option. I'm wondering if my system not being eligible for W11 is causing the lack of 22H2 being offered via WU. 21H2 was never offered via WU and I had to use WUA to update it. WU continues to show the warning message that my system will not support W11. I know I'm going to have to buy a new tower eventually to have W11 and MS support. If WU is still unable to update to 22H2 on my system by December, I'll just spend the mega hours to do it via WUA.

No, not being eligible for the W11 is not the problem. None of my systems are eligible for W11 and 5 of the 6 updated to 22H2. They were all on the same 21H2 version, OS Build 19044.2130.

Today, when turning on my PC, I noticed that the 22H2 update was offered again, I did not search for it manually. I decided that I had nothing to lose by trying and it downloaded and updated successfully, in less than 5 minutes.

I have a suspicion that Microsoft made some change to the update and that's why it couldn't be downloaded yesterday. Maybe we should let it come back on its own.

It's beyond me, I'm not a developer and I don't know how Microsoft developers work. I know there are quirks in Windows 10 that Microsoft has the secret to.

The links seem to come from Microsoft's catalog even if officially it's not available, I don't understand . For those who hesitate to manually install this kb, they can update their windows from the microsoft assistant (choose your language from the assistant page): https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

If you really want to install it from windows update there are things to try, the command lines, one at a time, below and the windows update reset:

    sfc /scannow
    dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    sfc /scannow
    chkdsk /scan

    Windows update reset tutorial:

    Tutorial for drives errors:
Drive Error Checking in Windows 10
I would do this, it is done on restart:
    chkdsk C: /f

Yes it can come from microsoft a quirk and all these errors make no sense your windows has no real problem.

It installed so fast that i suspect the only thing that updated was the text in the "about" section from 21H1 to 22H2...
