Another backward step

The companies harmoniously change their branding, design trends and target audience every 20 years just like the fashion industry. It's more profitable for them to all do so in unison than for them to each do their own individual thing. The only difference with technology and fashion is that there's only so much design trends you can do with fashion until you run out of original ideas, so with fashion they repeat them in cycles every 80 years.

I think from 2008-2020 they targeted the microblogging generation with short attention spans with their minimalism design when the iphone and social networks got invented. Then from 2020 onwards companies have pivoted to and are now targeting hipsters as they are the most consumerist and demographic that spends the most money and buys the most stuff for the highest prices, similar to how iPhone is 30% market share but 90% of IAP in-app purchases.



ASA is the british advertising regulator and that presentation is designed for 16-18 year olds in college who are studying Media Studies.

If you don't like it, then you're probably not their target audience. They're not making their logos, branding, design trends and target audience to appeal to the general public or the majority, only a minority core demographic or even sometimes a niche audience.

The companies are not going to be honest about their target audience, branding intentions and rationale because they don't want to experience brand dilution.
