But this updating with a forced restart every time - this is a fairly new phenomenon. Shawn is probably more aware of this than most of us and just as tired of it.

I suppose these days with decent AI who actually needs programmers any more -- although as far as Windows is concerned wasn't the whole thing invented by Robots from the start.

As for coding / programming - I can basically type a few queries into EXCEL and it can generate within seconds a complex algorithim full also of "What If" type of answers --indespensible for any sort of business processing / project management-- to try and specify that sort of task for a coder - probably one who hasn't the slightest knowledge of complex maths and statistics and then hand it over to some offshored "programming Factory" in Bangalore or the like . wait days for it to be done, find its riddled with errors, test it etc etc --Roll on A.I --can't come quick enough in my view.

But as far as these releeases of Windows are showing : I'm sure it's just a case of "The inmates having control of the Asylum" now -- a bit like SevenofNine in one of the Startrek series :

You Will be Absorbed You Will Comply Resistance is Futile !!

    Hi there
for someone who doesn't use or like "Tiles" on the desktop - there's absolutely nothing in the menu that even remotely to my eyes looks different from the previous version -- for stuff I use regularly I put on desktop with an icon via open file location -->send to desktop (create short cut).
Ditto--I use shortcuts, too. The square tiles are a hangover from that abomination, Windows 8... I didn't use them in Windows 8, either!

IMO, that kinda confirms my thoughts that maybe the hardware is getting too good too fast for the programmers to keep up with.

It's always been that way. First comes the hardware, then comes the software to take advantage of it!... I've seen it that way for 35 years with every computer system I've used, from DOS, to the Amiga (8 years of joy that was), to Win10, and all between. Works that way with 3d cards, etc. and etc. ad infinitum. CPUs, etc. My 3900X was released a bit over a year ago, and AMD is still refining the AGESAs with continuing updates that are included in the continuing motherboard bios releases. It's the way of the universe...

    Hi there
This release is working perfectly on a VM for me -- actually better than the 19041(20H1) or 19042(20H2) versions for "standard testing"

Mind you all I have on it are

    1) Office 2019 including PROJECT and VISIO
2)SAP GUI (front end for accessing remote work SAP systems)
    3) SQUEEZEPLAY -- player for accessing SQUEEZEBOX server from NAS machine
4)SKYPE (although Ms Teams is better which is what I use now)
5)Firefox Browser (hate browsers without a menu - firefox still has optional menus)
    6) Photoshop --the last non subscription model --still working brilliantly.
7)Filezilla (FTP / SFTP for fast encrypted file Xfers over LAN / Internet)
8)IOpenSSH server from the "Add optional Features" settings
9)winamp -- for creating decent rips of any old audio CD's I still have -- for obscurish classical music winamp uses the Gracenote DB which IMO is far better than freedb -- freedb is O.K for pop / rock type of stuff --not my taste though.
9)Slyfox DVD -- good to create unencrypted DVD ISO's from commercial DVD's -- I then send to my NAS server and my remote TV's can play these (menu's and all) via KODI installed on an Amazon fire TV stick plugged into my remote TV.

So finally Ms Working decent release !!! at least for me --running on KVM/QEMU hosted on Fedora rel 32 kernel 5.11-2--.fc32.x86_64

    Cheers

    Hi folks

Language finally also working properly --both Windows and Office.

Added Icelandic for Office and Windows

( For Languages where there isn't a base install language You need to download in a base supported Language --I used UK English-- and then install your other language(s) on top of that).

    This time it's working properly

Maybe finally Ms is getting things going OK -- this release also seems far zippier -- can't put measurement values on it - but just feels OK.
