I would strongly advise against that. Don't try to force an install of 2004. Using an ISO or MCT or Update Assistant may cause you a boatload of problems. I have no proof whatsoever of this, but based on the growing unavailability of 2004, even for those who had the option and it went missing by itself, plus the lack of progress on hard hold known issues, it's my opinion, mine alone, that MS has or is slowly but unofficially pulling the release. Again, I have no proof, just IMO.
he scares me so i will wait XD ah sure might as well system running fast so no point

So true!. I am a living proof of what you have said, except for the unofficial pulling back of the release that I haven't heard of yet. Just recently, in a previous post, I explained that I have tried a repair install with 2004, it didn't work. Just today, I have also tried a clean install with the same version; it has aborted mid-way. All that on my new rig (Asus ROG Strix). Finally, RUFUS to the rescue. This little nifty app has powerful efficiency. I never knew one could use it to do a clean install of previous versions of Windows without the help of UUPDump, let alone Microsoft Download Center where one only has one choice: the latest version.

Long story short, it has just saved my bacon with a clean install of 19H2 on my new rig. Without the shadow of a doubt, I can say that I am sitting pretty for now. Thx RUFUS.

How does that ensure it is compatible?
    Hi,
Never know until you try 50-50% chance 2004 will function fine
Point is see for yourself just as I translated the person asking how to see if 2004 is compatible seeing it's not offered through updates yet.
So mount the thing it only takes 15 minutes last I ran 2004 setup.exe.
Update system is a terrible way to install large builds anyway.

I just updated one of my systems with a similar issue. The only hiccup is that when I activated the network Internet was fine but taskbar showed no internet. Disconnected and used second network connection and went back to original and connection showed up.

With a proper backup trying to force update is not risky, either it works or not. I did just that on day one and it worked although I was debating about going back to 1909 first week. I still have 1909 backed up but restoring it would mean loosing all program updates since.
Performance is good and bugs are minor for my use. That's all I care about.

Absolutely. i was on the Release Preview channel and got 2004 very early. I had problems so after a week of struggles I restored back and came out of RP. I've subsequently updated to 2004 and whatever the original problem was is gone but I was prepared to go back again.

The bugs I encountered gave me not enough reason to roll back to 1909 , I know how to deal with them and with a little luck they will be fixed soon...........
The worst bug is , imo , the buggy "optimizing drives ".............had to set the service on manual , it kept on trimming several times a day , not very healthy for your SSD/HDD...........

I originally had 3 or 4 frozen desktops a day. That's why I went back. They seem to have gone now although I still get an occasional crash of Explorer.

My "proof" is in the fact that I tried forcing the update on my backup system and long story short the PC is now in an infinite boot loop state - How to get the Windows 10 May 2020 Update version 2004

Totally agree, don't try to force the update.
