What? It's a buggy feature update, no?

It's not going to update by itself if it's Optional. That's what I meant, bugs or not.

OK, I'm missing something. How is it optional?

Since the release of 1903 MS have made all Feature Updates entirely optional for both Home and Pro. You have to specifically ask for it by clicking 'Download and install now' in WU. It will eventually install automatically though, but only when your current version is at or near its end of support.

And optional until end of life on your current version.

    From post #1:

Beginning today, the May 2020 Update is available for customers who would like to install this latest release. If you are ready to install the update, open your Windows Update settings (Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update) and select Check for updates. Once the update appears, you can select Download and install.

You have to select it manually, it's not auto.

Yes, I understand it now. Thanks, Dick.
Didn't know that MS made that change.

It was one of the changes brought about after the 1809 debacle.

    I prefer it!

However, I had one test 1909 system that automatically downloaded it and wanted to install upon reboot.
How can that be? All switches are turned off.

It shouldn't happen unless your current version is nearing end of life.
