    Another Acronis user here.
It works great for backup images, particularly if you do them manually from boot media as I do.
I actually hate the installed software interface and bloated features. I find it relies too much on automated tasks and stuff running in the background. I install it just long enough to create bootable media and then uninstall it.
Works for me. Backups are fast, accurate, never had a problem with an image since 2007.

I tried Macrium based on all the cheer-leading in these forums. It was fine and seemed to work just as well as Acronis (from boot media). But I was unable to get one of my PCs to boot from the media so it was just not going to work in my environment. That is a localized issue - I found nothing wrong with Macrium.

For what it is worth, when the message is that posters should be using imaging backups - very good advice - the message should be to use any imaging program that works. The messaging that Macrium is the only program worthy does have a evangelical ring to it.

    2 cents.

I use both, I've got Macrium on this laptop and do image backups to an external hard drive. On my desktop I've got both and have a weekly schedule using Acronis to an external hard drive that is permanently plugged in, it runs on main power and USB.
I also do an image backup with Macrium to it as well.

Has anyone tried a Malwarebytes beta version? If so does it work better with 2004?

The current release version of Malwarebytes is 4.1.0.56

If you enable allow "beta updates" you will get version 4.1.2.73

Malwarebytes is working on the problem with 2004 so it is probably the same on the Beta version.

It works with 2004, whether it works better I don't know as I've always been on beta.

Another Ex Acronis user here,Well for my 2 cents worth. I was a Acronis user for many years and it worked pretty well most of the time. Tech support was none extant meaning yes they did have tech support but none of the tech had any Idea how the program worked or how to fix it when it didn't. All this was good since Ghost was gone. In 2012 I got my first UEFI notebook. I made a drive image first thing and another one after I had most of my software and configuration set up. Then decided to restore a image to a new SSD. Well the image restored i thought great then tried to boot it up. As you know back in 2012 Acronis did not support UEFI or GPT Disk/SSD Tech support had no clue how to make it work. Some of the guys in their forum tried with me but that image never did boot. This is when I learned about Macrium Reflect Free Ver 5 I believe my first try I was able to Image my original Hard drive and restore it to my new SSD. I did continue using Acronis for 3 years after that each year they would advertise that they were UEFI GPT compatible but that just wasn't so. By 2015 I had moved all my computers to UEFI GPT so I paid for MR Ver 5 i believe which got upgraded to Ver 6. Since 2012 I have not had a failure to restore and boot. So this is why I always recommend Macrium Reflect Free or some other software that might work also. My biggest grip about Acronis was there lack of support for the product and not being able to quickly adapt to UEFI, 3 years I waited for them to catch up.

Yes, it's experiences like that that will make anyone sour on any software.

Except Microsoft. They're special. As the rest of this thread continues to demonstrate!

I don't care what the software, hardware, company, or item is, someone is always going to have a horror story to tell. That's the nature of the internet. My advice is to recognize not all have the same experiences.
