We have two machines with Windows 7, and will continue using it. Since I am not a fan of Windows 10, our remaining 7 machines run Windows 8 (love it).
My biggest complaint with Win10, is auto updates, what you have today may not work tomorrow. Just look how much it has changed in 2 years. Why would I want such uncertainty?
I recently upgraded from W7 Ultimate to W10 Pro (x64) and, thanks to various pieces of software, use it in much the same way as I did with Vista Ultimate, which was my favourite OS. For a very short time I tried 8 then 8.1 but loathed both and went back to 7 until now.
It starts there with misinformation then users believe everything that is written and keep passing the disinformation over and over again and leads, even more, to think it is true.
Windows 10 has put a lot more control into the OS when it comes to privacy and of course, if you install 10 or turn on a new computer and click next next and finish you just given up on the level of control MS gives users.
No 3rd party tools are needed to turn off the settings to improve privacy. If you want true privacy, Don't own a phone, computer, TV, use a credit card or a bank, or just move to a place where there is no electricity, cars sewer and water service.
Window 7 is like a classic 1960's American muscle car. Beautiful to look at and sleek and powerful. And nostalgic. We forget the bad stuff, remember Aero.
Windows 10 is like a modern car. Looks like every other car. But nice to have a backup camera!

Win 7 rip? - No, it's still the daily driver on the laptop.
One of my new years resolutions was migrating to 10 on the desktop, so yup I've moved to the darkside, whatever. As usual like most people here with friends & tenforums the experience was fairly smooth. And everyone has there reasons why which most likely will make more sense as time rolls on.
The thing that gets me though is the "wow" factor, it's just not there. When I went from 3.1 to 95, or NT to 2000, or XP to 7, I can remember a certain excitement & motivation. 7 to 10 was like, the pancakes without the butter.
