    Hi Anak.

    No.
Hi Stigg, thanks for letting us know.

    Another thought:

    Bug Check 0x5: INVALID_PROCESS_ATTACH_ATTEMPT

The INVALID_PROCESS_ATTACH_ATTEMPT bug check has a value of 0x00000005. This generally indicates that the thread was attached to a process in a situation where that is not allowed. For example, this bug check could occur if KeAttachProcess was called when the thread was already attached to a process (which is illegal), or if the thread returned from certain function calls in an attached state (which is invalid),

This bug check appears very infrequently.

    Remarks
This bug check can occur if the driver calls the KeAttachProcess function and the thread is already attached to another process. It is better to use the KeStackAttachProcess function. If the current thread was already attached to another process, the KeStackAttachProcess function saves the current APC state before it attaches the current thread to the new process.

    Source
So it could be a driver.

I've updated to this build/revision on more machines than I can count (lost count when I ran out of fingers). Everything from ancient fossils to brand spanking new ones. No issues to report on any of them.

Encouraged by lack of any adverse news I updated just now - and also on my newer OS drive (that I migrated to yesterday / today).

I have to say that prior to my ownership of Windows 10 I was deploying all updates and patches rather promptly...

Ran this update with slew of Office 13 updates, i think a .NET update was in there too and a Brother printer update. I do not like MS jacking with my drivers. Post update, my printer was dead. The printer had an entry in Devices & Printers that included gibberish under description and Microsoft Print to PDF was set default device. Right clicking printer showed many missing functions. Reinstalled prior drivers and all is good now, until next update.

I only trust my laptop people to feed me specific driver updates. Is there any way to exclude specific updates like Brother print drivers?

This post provides a solution to a similar problem with audio drivers.
Since you're on Windows 10 Pro you can either prevent printer driver updates by using a Group Policy as described here, or follow the steps described in there and change the Enable_DeviceInstall_Restrictions.reg file with your printer's Hardware ID and merge the reg file to your registry.

Good to know Dimitri and thanks for the knowledge.

You're most welcome Chris. Let us know how it went.
I believe that in the Group Policy, you'll probably need to add an exclusion for each Hardware Id found under your printer's "Hardware Id" section in Device Manager, just to be on the safe side!

I personally set my machines to block "manufacturer' apps", although I don't know if it includes driver updates:
Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Hardware tab "Device Installation Settings" – set to No
