Happy New Year all.
Meanwhile, as of 1st Jan 2019 , I'm still not being offered 1809 on any of my machines whether I "Check for Updates" or not and however the Advanced Options are set
I have 28 on my Lenovo K450 Desktop so 22 sounds reasonable. Includes 3 Oracle VirtualBox drivers and one Brother printer drivers.
IIRC, MS stated there would not be any CUs or FUs issued until after the holidays. I think it was stated this was due to personnel being away on vacations/holidays, so staffing would not support the updating process. I wasn't expecting WU to do anything until next Tuesday at the earliest. The next real "patch Tuesday" might not occur until February 5th, 2019.
Thank you.
I was sort of hoping that as 1809 is allegedly "out there" it might trickle through despite the holidays.
My problem is I have a deadline of Jan 20th to either get 1809 installed and working on my travelling laptop which is Win 10 HOME, OR lock it down until April when I shall no longer be travelling and relying on slow WiFi with no other machines to assist.
What's the general feeling about manually installing 1809? I understood the consensus was still to "wait for MS to push it"
If I locked it down, i don't need any other MS updates - I use Norton F/W and A/V with MalwareBytes so MS can leave me alone for 3 months!
I have manually upgraded four quite different machines to 1809 with no issues. They range from an old Acer One netbook with an Intel Atom N2600, through the two systems in my specs, up to an i7 Dell Latitude.
It is always 'safest' to wait in case there are any hardware-specific issues. But as long as you start off by making a Macrium image before you try the upgrade I would go for it...
