My Windows crashed after downloading. Start menu does not show up and the pc repair prompt came up but it cannot repair after following the instructions. Now gone in for big repair as the tech said it corrupted my hard drive as well!
If you can boot into Windows, then give the Start menu a hard shot. Powershell admin.

    Cmd line sets Start default:

    Code:
    Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

I just started to move a few tiles and it appeared Apparently it was just hidden or something… Gheez this build is broken.
One of the first things I do is delete all those tiles. They're not necessary for me.

Add or Remove Keyboard Layouts in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

Open the options for default display language:

    Attachment 187671

The first (top most) keyboard layout will be the system default layout. In my case, let's say I would like to make US English my default input language, I would need to remove all layouts listed before it by selecting them one by one and selecting Remove. In my case now I would need to remove Finnish and UK English to get US English on top of the list:

    Attachment 187673

I would then add Finnish and UK English back to the list, they would go to bottom of it US English remaining on top as default keyboard layout.

    Hallo Kari
Thanks for the help. This worked. Before the April update, my language setting was English UK, and my keyboard was English US. The preferred keyboard setting English US was lost with the April update.

On a sidenote. I never had this problem before. The problem only started with this April update. Is this a bug?

Thanks but it doesn't go that far either. Can call up start menu or search. It is now with repairer for complete reset. So now hoping that all works after receiving it back.

I did a clean install of this version and was wondering if DirectX 9.0c is no longer an option for installment, as it was installing fine on FCU version.

Now it says that windows OS is not supported when trying to run dxwebinstaller.
I know DX12 can emulate DX9 but was wondering why not having the libraries themselves for older games i play..

I have one game on Steam that requires DX9 and it installed it for me before the game started. This won't help if the game is not on steam but maybe you go to the game's website and under requirements, they might link to anything it requires.

Hmm, so a game installement might just add the required libraries instead of installing it directly, no problem with that actually..
I was just installing DirectX 9.0c before any game usually, now seems impossible.

I quit trying to install DX9 and the VC Distributables couple years ago. I let Windows Update and Steam handle them now. I have not run into a problem yet. :)

I always thought when the taskbar refreshed, Windows was updating apps?
I think so too, it usually happens after an installment of a build, the windows store gets update and other stuff that affect it, and it looks like it is refreshed..

I see, as for the VC yes, usually a game or an app installs them and Windows Update installs security updates for them.
As for DX, i will do the same from now on and it seems like you cannot install it manually anymore.

    Thanks.
