Did you check to see if KB4054022, was installed after you did the restart?

And where did you check it? In Control Panel > Programs and Features > Installed Updates
    OR did you go to
System > Update & Security > View installed update history.

The latter is the correct way to check.
AFAIK if your "Winver" is 16299.192, it MUST have installed - unless someone can show differently.
I don't see the other KB number and there have been a couple of checks for updates since installing the cumulative.

There is a lot of conflicting information out there, but it sounds like the patch only addresses the Meltdown vulnerability. And it's unclear if the patch alone corrects the problem or if a firmware update is also needed.

Must admit I'm not clued up on kernel memory. Is this a big issue? I mean I've had my current build for over 5 years now and not experienced any major kernel related issues or mishaps

Got bored with waiting to get the update so downloaded from the link that Brink posted.
Install went fine and as yet no problems.

Sorry - I misled you somewhat.
It's KB4056892 that sets the version to 16299.192 and in your screenshot that's clearly been installed.

True, aren't wel all a bit OVERREACTING a bit, while that same bug was already present for years! And hey, all our PCs are still function, right? They haven't exploded in our faces, right?

So again, aren't we a tad bit overreacting? :)
