VM server trouble (server can't find the host name)

    hello.

i am trying to network two Virtual Box VM's and access a shared folder using \\hostname but it is not working. when i try to do this the windows network diagnostics tells me that windows can communicate with the name resolution server but can't find the host name.

both VM's are using windows 10 pro educational and are turned on and have access to the internet and to the same Nat Network. i used command prompt to ping the two computers and they both successfully replied. they are also clones of each other.

what can i do to resolve this issue?

    See if this helps........

Copy and paste these lines in Note pad.

    @Echo on
    pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
    attrib -h -s -r hosts
    echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
    attrib +r +h +s hosts
    popd
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    ipconfig /flushdns
    netsh winsock reset all
    netsh int ip reset all
    shutdown -r -t 1
    del %0

Save as flush.bat to your desktop
    .
Double click on the flush.bat file to run it as Administrator (or right click)
