Changed to a Local Account - Weird thing happened with the passwordPIN

I heard that if I lose access to my email account that I had been signing in windows with it could potentially lock me out of my computer so I decided to change to a local user account

I set this up - set a new username and set a new password which was basically the old password but with the last letter repeated

Initially I had problems logging in after a restart though and it wouldn't accept my password ! So after several attempts and some sweat and panic it let me in

Now it will only let me in with the old password - the new password I set with the new account seems to be irrelevant for some reason and I have to use the old password with the new use account

What the hell is that all about? Did I mistype the new password?

I don't think so as I'm always double careful when doing these things and check the spelling multiple times

Why is it only accepting the old original password I used with my email account to sign in when I clearly changed it to something else with the new user account?

When wanting a different account such as having a Microsoft Account but wanting a Local Account I create the new one, also with a slightly different name, as an Administrator then log out/sign out of the Microsoft Account then reboot to get the new account to show up on the log-in screen. The choice of a password and PIN is up to the User for the Local Account. A Standard User can't make as many changes as an Administrative User can. There has to at least one User with Administrative rights, is created at initial install and more can be added later.
