    Hi,

It is possible to edit the registry of the offline Windows installation.

This guide explains thoroughly the complete process to do it on a non accessible system.

I think that you might well not have noticed the difference
    DefaultAccessPermission - not found
    but this was found
    LegacyImpersonationLevel

I think you should try a Repair install.

Malo - Yes, I also know how to do that & there is a tutorial on the subject & I think I have talked another member through this in the past
    BUT
despite initial appearances, the Registry items ["Names"] do not have the same Data on different computers.

Sadly i dont know... i think its time i learned how to do this! :)
And I ought to talk you through backing your own files up before you do the Repair install.
    - Do you already have a recent backup of your own files?
    - Do you already have a bootable USB - I don't really care which type or how old it is as long as you tell me its name [Windows installation USB, Acronis TI boot disk, Macrium reflect boot disk, …]?

Do you have so few applications installed that you don't mind re-installing Windows? I would mind considerably.

I dont mind reinstalling. I just want to access the drive by getting the password prompt back.

Heres the history of the drives.

I bought the NAND about a month ago and i copied my old SSD windows 10 drive (using Macrium software) onto the NAND then unconnected the SSD. The NAND drive has worked flawlessly.

Now i cannot login using the NAND ive reconnected the SSD and im booting up the PC using that drive. I can see the NAND drive and im mostly hoping i can somehow fix the Win10 install on that NAND.

Obviously i have 1 month of data i want to try to save but if its lost then ill just recopy my old SSD again using Macrium.

Since you mention Macrium, have you tried startup repair with its USB? It is said to be much better than the Windows USB equivalent.

I don't know and you do not need to.

You start from tutorial step 2.5, booting from the USB.
In the Macrium KB equivalent, you'll be driven by whichever screen displays [steps 4 in both MBR/Bios & UEFI parts of their procedure]

After this attempt, whether you are successful or not, use the Macrium USB to make a new system image on an external drive. Do not overwrite any previous image.

Then please tell me how old your previous Macrium image is and how much has been changed since it was made. That can help decide whether restoring that image is less hassle than a clean install.
In either case, I'll then have to talk you through using your Macrium USB to nose around your system rescuing your own files [ones that have been changed too recently to be in any backup].

If you have a System Restore point, you may be able to start System Restore offline (without Windows running).

That would restore the registry to a previous good state.

You can use the Hirens bootable media to reset local user account password, this way you will be able to log in to Windows 10 without password prompt.
