Duplicate user account - but does not exist
Bought a new laptop, Asus - Aspire A515-44.
Windows 10 Home - I have installed W10 several times over the years and every time it installs differently, a new set of problems !!! This is the first time with the home edition though.
I have set in the registry:
Winlogon/default user name - Snodon
default password - password (sic)
and now have:
last used username - Snodon - which it should now show
All correct and normally works.
BUT
When I get the logon screen up it tells me that the username/password is incorrect
This is because I now have two accounts, which are listed in the bottom left - both are "Snodon"
If I select the bottom one, which is what the system is doing, I get "incorrect password"
If I select the top one it accepts the password and loggs on.
I have been through all the account settings and there is only one user account, me!
LUSRMGR.MSC will not run as this is the Home version !!!!!
Does anyone have any ideas please, appart from formatting the hard disk and starting again without all the third party crap, which I may just do, although Acer builds are nothing like as bad as some I have seen.
