How do I stop Windows from trying to force me to a Microsoft Account?

    Hi guys,

I set up WIndows 10 20H2 on a newly bought PC. Now Windows is trying to force me to use a Microsoft account. This always worked without one on my old PC - which ran Windows 10 20H2 as well.

What do I have to do to make Windows stop showing me "reminder" messages to create such an unwanted account?

Are you installing and going through the process of creating accounts? A simple way used to be to put into airplane mode after connecting to your network, but before creating the account. It would create a local account insead because it had no access to the internet. Turn airplane mode back off after the account is created.

You must have Windows 10 Home.

When setting up Windows 10 for the first time Home doesn't offer the offline account option (Pro will). The way to force Home to offer setting up a local account is to disconnect from the internet before starting the setup process.

If you are installing the Window 10 Home edition of version 20H2 and want to use a local account instead of a Microsoft account, then you will need to temporarily disconnect your computer from the Internet until installation has finished.

    Thanks for your answers, guys!

Let me clarify: I actually do have a local account on this machine. The vendor delivered it with Windows 10 Home 2004. During the first start I went through the usual setup steps and I managed to set Windows up with a local account.

However, now I started getting these full-screen reminders that I still do not have a Microsoft account and that this would be evil and what not. To get away from this full screen message, I had to press a "remind me in 3 days" button. Which I did - there was no other way to leave this message.

So how can I tell Windows, that I do not want an online account and that I do not want to be molested with this question again?
