    Ok, just finished running Macrium and it made no difference. Guess I will attempt the regedit move. I just don't understand why its disabling the keyboard once it gets to the Windows operations.

    The only difference between this computer and my dad's was his keyboard continues to work, it just wouldn't show the password box when you clicked on the screen or hit the Enter key or space bar. But I had all the other items on the screen, the Easy of Access and power button, so I don't know.

    Working on regedit right now.

    Could also be a malware infection.

    One thing at a time.

    The four reg keys that need to be changed to disable Secure Sign-in (Ctrl-Alt-Delete) -

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
    "DisableCAD"=dword:00000001

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
    "DisableCAD"=-

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
    "DisableCAD"=-

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
    "DisableCAD"=-

    Bold items are the keys that need to be Exported for backup, before modifying DisableCAD.
    Hmm, interesting. I only have 1 of the 4 keys in my registry, The very first one in this list. I guess I need to go ahead and add these other ones, or not?

    I would add them anyway.

    The value is the minus sign, in case it's not clear.

    Export the keys first before adding.

    wouldn't the minus sign also be 0 or does it actually have to be the minus sign?

    I'd do it the way it's done in Brink's tutorial and downloadable reg file.

    Ok, I have added the missing three and did them according to Brinks tutorial, expect I used 0 instead of - as it would not let me put those in the DWORD slots, but it made not difference. I even put the download file on a USB and used the import command on the regedit and it made no difference.

    I can go back and look at those registry keys and they revert back to what they were at the beginning, or missing all together for the ones not there. It does not maintain the registry edit when it exits the WinPE mode and starts the boot process again. Ugh.

    Time for bed, guess I will start day three of repairs tomorrow. Trying to not have to do a reinstall of the OS.

    I would do a scan for malware in the Repair environment.

    Download the portable Emsisoft Emergency Kit.

    Emsisoft | Emergency Kit: Free Portable Malware Scan and Removal

    EEK is not bootable, but it can be run by booting from the Windows install media, selecting Repair > Troubleshoot > Command Prompt, and plugging in the EEK flash drive to run scans.

    Use DISKPART > LIST VOLUME to find the drive letter you want to scan, and the drive letter of the flash drive where EEK was saved.

    The EEK readme file has an example -

    - Switch to the Emsisoft Emergency Kit folder (e.g.: cd Drive Letter:\eek\bin64\)

    - Run the scanner by typing: a2cmd.exe

    Next you will see a help page describing all available parameters.

    The following parameter is an example of scanning the Windows drive with Memory and Traces (Registry) scan enabled, and archive support active.

    Detected Malware is moved to the default quarantine folder.

    a2cmd.exe /f="Windows Drive Letter:" /m /t /a /q="USB Drive Letter:\eek\quarantine"

    I would start with that.

    Failing that, I would create Rescue Media using @Kyhi's instructions -

    Win10XPE - Build Your Own Rescue Media

    The thread itself is long, but @Kyhi keeps the opening post updated.

    Other than that, you may be headed for a clean install.

    I would make a Linux Live CD (USB) and start getting all the data off the computer.

    The 10 Cleverest Ways to Use Linux to Fix Your Windows PC

    Since you mentioned there were no system restore points being made, and you haven't done any Windows Updates since Jurassic Park was a thing, I suspect there isn't a current, known good disk image either.

    Does not bode well for disaster recovery, especially if this is a system used for business.

    Macrium Reflect Free is popular, and a 1 TB external USB drive is less than 50 bucks now.

    Just sayin'

    I'll look into this. My internet is so slow here at home, its take a while to get the download done, but while I am waiting on this, I was looking through my news feed on my phone and I found something interest. I know there is a way to look through installed updates and remove them, not through the Troubleshoot section of the Install Disk, since I have already tried that and it fails to remove recent updates, etc., but this page peaked my thoughts:

    KB4579311 cumulative update is causing numerous problems for Windows 10 users

    It says that one of the problems it causes is not being able to log into Windows 10
