Is Windows going to force me to have a Microsoft account?

Windows started bugging me with messages that it "must" connect to a Microsoft account.

Initially I was able to dismiss this message, although the button read "remind me later".

Today the message appeared again, this time I could only dismiss it with a "remind me in 3 days".

Am I going to be forced to have a Microsoft account in order to continue using my PC in 3 days?

Is there any official information on this?

    (winver shows 2004)

    Hello kmph,

If able, please post some screenshots showing these messages to help determine the source.

Windows 10 itself doesn't require a Microsoft account unless you have an Insider build installed, then it requires a Microsoft account only for updates. Otherwise, you can use a local account instead.

It could also be some app or service you are using that requires a Microsoft account. For example: OneDrive, Cortana, etc...

    Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately, I can't post a screenshot of this message. First of all I can't / don't know how to make it appear (if it appears then it appears on startup, before I can see my desktop). I guess I'll come back with a screenshot in 3 days...

Another issue is that the message is in Polish. I guess I'll try to change the language of Windows to English in 3 days so that I'll be able to post here this message in English...

I don't use OneDrive nor Cortana. Years ago I downloaded some free games from Windows Store, but I have long since removed them. If I remember correctly I had to use a Microsoft account to download these games (**if I remember correctly** Windows Store but not Windows itself was reporting I was logged in), but now (I've just checked) Windows Store says I'm not logged in.

Does the screen look anything like this below?

Yes, except that this time Windows told me that it "must" (translating from Polish) connect to a Microsoft account and instead of a Polish equivalent of "skip for now" I got a "remind me in 3 days" (again translating from Polish).

This wording ("must" and "remind me in 3 days") is what made me concerned.

I followed the tutorial you posted (thanks!), let's see what happens in 3 days...

Sorry, I updated my post above before you posted.

If you meant this below, then it's normal other than the requirement of a Microsoft account unless you turned on one of the options below that requires a Microsoft account. Otherwise, you just go through the settings and skip or keep them turned off.

Far more than 3 days passed and I'm still not being bothered by such messages. Thank you! Marking as solved.
