    Win 10 Pro login password

I upgraded my Acer Aspire Win 10 Pro Ver 1903 from 4GB to 8GB RAM and when I started the laptop it asked for a password. I have 'never ask' in netplwiz and 'never' under require sign-in unchecked. No options have changed there and I have never been asked for a password since setting the machine up some years ago. I have read a lot of threads but have found nothing new.

I did a few updates a few nights ago. Did one of them change something I'm not aware of? Will upgrading to VEr 1909 correct this? Any insight?

Can you log into the computer now? Are you logged in with a Microsoft Account, or a local account?

Then you will have to set up netplwiz to automatically log you in and supply the password:
Sign in User Account Automatically at Windows 10 Startup

It's set - and always has been - to auto login.

Has the password on your live.com account changed?

I signed into that laptop multiple times over the past weekend because my main laptop was down and having problems. Not once did I have to put a password in to start it. First time today I login and it won't without a password. Last thing I did Sunday was to do whatever updates were ready and then shut it down.

Then you'll probably just have to reset netplwiz to require a password. I would recommend restarting after that. Then go back and re-enable automatic login. Who knows what caused the problem, but that is the likely solution.

I did change it once while using this laptop a couple days ago because live didn't like the one that has always worked. That change wasn't recognized on the other laptop so I had to change it yet again. That password is how I have been able to log in.

That's likely the problem. The password saved by netplwiz is different that the current password on the live.com account.
