Windows 10 non existent account in email and accounts

    Hello from a newbie,

My first question so if I make a mistake or my forum etiquette is slightly off, please correct me.

Right to me question, ( I am an mcse although now not updated, a+, Network+ and 30 years experience so may help others in future) I have a windows 10 pro Lenovo machine and it has 3 ms accounts in email and accounts in settings, there is a slight issue with the operating system where one of the accounts is a non existent account, as in the account user@companydomain.co.uk is no longer working for the company and the account was deleted from the exchange server. When I press fix the issue with settings it takes me to login and asks for that login.

But it seems to be the default account on the pc, I have took control from another user account but there stills seems ot be an issue with this one email account still showing up, if I trying to sing into the ms page with that email it says there is no account with that email?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards

    James

    James,

By "it seems to be the default account on the pc" I think you mean that the computer automatically signs in to this account when you restart the computer. You can stop this and, if you wish, set the automatic login to another user account using a built-in utility called netplwiz.

It is best to avoid the term "default account" -
    - because there is no such thing in Windows 10, and
    - because that term can be taken to refer to a Default 'user' there's a folder for within C:\Users and which sets default items for future [not-yet-created] user accounts.

Once you have sorted out the netplwiz automatic login you can, whilst you are logged in to a different user account,
    - use an admin account to look around with C:\Users\<TheUnwantedAccount> to copy out any files you want to keep
    - check that you have at least one other Admin account on the computer [personally, I'd say make sure you have two so you can sort things out easily if one gets corrupted],
    - delete the unwanted account [you'll be asked if you want to delete all its files but can skip this if you are at all unsure].

    James,

By the way, if you look at the consolidated list of new posts at https://www.tenforums.com/search.php...st&exclude=119 you'll see that, if you hover the cursor over a thread title, only the start of the initial question is shown

It is the thread title and this popup that people can use to decide whether or not they have anything to contribute to the thread. So it's best to get the substance of the question in the first paragraph and leave things such as life history in a later paragraph so that suitable people can understand that they have something to offer.

    James,

And I should have added that it is very easy to notice the last post on a page without noticing -

1 That there are other posts above it that you have not yet seen, and

2 [does not yet apply to this thread] That threads containing lots of replies get split into separate pages, that clicking on your email notification might take you to the final entry on not-the-last page yet you do not notice the little page numbers at the bottom. I fell foul of this only this morning. I replied to a post and only then saw that somebody else had posted the same advice before me but on page 2 so my reply was put on page 2 underneath the other one.
