You're most welcome. It's never a bother mate. Always happy to help.
Just thinking, is there any good reason why I shouldn't keep using the Admin account instead of struggling to get a normal one?
Hi,
Nope not really standard is supposed to be more secure but people just enter the password when prompted anyway so mute gain
Since the admin account was giving the least trouble I decided to delete my user account.
In the C/users file there are two accounts, Administrator and Public. (looks promising)
In Settings/Accounts there is one, Administrator (local account). (still looks promising)
BUT
When I switch the PC on I eventually get a screen with my old, incorrect account name ..........@yahho.com, and there's an OK button.
Click on that and I get a screen with the same name as above, plus, at the bottom left Administrator, ...... @yahoo, and the incorrect .....yahho.
I wait, without clicking on anything, and a few seconds later Microsofts "photograph of the ocean from inside a cave" screen opens up.
I press any key on the keyboard and I get a screen with Administrator in the middle of the screen and a ..... yahoo one bottom left.
I don't understand why the old incorrect name and the "deleted" user name appears.
The system needs a good dose of software laxative. Any ideas?
I tried to make a video of the startup sequence but the result is not satisfactory. So I took some still shots.
They might make it easier to understand what I said in my last post.
There's only one user in the accounts section. Why are the other two names being displayed, and how can I eliminate them?
Just to verify, did you sign in to the built-in "Administrator" account, delete the Microsoft account(s) you created with the wrong email address, create a new Microsoft account with the correct email address, and make it an administrator account?
Next, verify that the box in netplwiz is checked.
Sign in User Account Automatically at Windows 10 Startup
If you select the Microsoft account with your email address in netplwiz, are you able to click on the Remove button to delete the account?
Yes, But to do so I have to tick the "Users must enter a username ...." box first or I can't highlight the other username.
If I highlight it, then the Remove button becomes active. I haven't done it yet though.
If wanted, using "Remove" will delete the account leaving only the Administrator account on the computer.
Afterwards, you could then create a new Microsoft account with the correct email address, and make it an administrator type account to use.
