Windows 10 Logon Password Now Required Every Time - Whats Going On

Recently I have had to reset my laptop running Windows 10 to factory settings and now, every time I boot up, it keeps asking for my email password to allow me to login, even though I didn't set this when restoring. I even thought I'd made a mistake, so last evening restored it again, taking particular notice, but still it keeps requesting this. I never use my email address for logging on, I use my nickname, but even that isn't showing anymore.

I usually just allow it to boot up without security and find this very annoying. What can I do about this?

Anyone had similar problems and know the answer?

Right. I think I've finally managed to sort the problem. For some unknown, and very annoying reason, when restoring to Factory Settings it automatically signs in to Microsoft Account. Something I have never used.

I have played around with Settings and now sign in using Local User Account. Why can't whoever it is leave things well alone? I have enough trouble using Windows without all this unnecessary extra work?

Hello Chris, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

If you wanted to use a Microsoft account so you can use services that require it, you could use Option One in the tutorial below with netpliz to have Windows automatically sign in to your account at startup.
