    Possible bug since nothing was encrypted by EFS.

    Hi @Brink. Macrium are denying there's a problem & saying it's coincidental as they cannot replicate it.

    Backing up the EFS key should stop the notification, but it is one strange coincidence it happened right after a Macrium update.

    @Brink - This is what I get running %UserProfile%\Desktop

    Enable or Disable NTFS File Encryption in Windows-desktop.png

    My Desktop is actually at D:\Desktop - Windows generally seems to know it's there(!) and I moved it there carefully along with Documents etc using the TenForums Tutorials when I partitioned my SSD. All has run fine since

    It will not run in a command prompt since it's a path. You'll need to do it in the Run (Win+R) dialog instead.

    Since you moved your Desktop folder, this is most likely why it couldn't be found before. Testing it in the Run dialog will confirm this or not.

    Double check to make sure the Desktop string value (REG_SZ) in the registry key below has the correct "D:\Desktop" path for where you moved it to.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

    The Desktop string value (REG_SZ) in the registry key below should have %USERPROFILE%\Desktop by default, but it will show the location you moved it to.

    HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

    @Brink - thanks a lot for your help. My registry shows this:-

    Enable or Disable NTFS File Encryption in Windows-regdesktop.png

    Do I correctly understand that I should replace the Registry Data value D:\Desktop with %USERPROFILE%\Desktop ?

    No. That is correct for this registry key.

    Correct, but you do not need to change it since you moved the location. It's correct as is.

    @Brink - That's great - thanks for putting my mind at rest. I'll relax now until I go into 2004 meltdown in a few months.
