    I downloaded already the newest Windows 10 ISO file.

    Now I want to install it with the Media Creation Tool onto an USB flash drive (for later installation on a computer)
    Unfortunately I miss an option to use the just downloaded ISO.

    Instead MCT downloads again the ISO file.

    Why?

    How can I tell MCT to select an ISO from local hard disk?

    If this is not possible:

    Can I use Rufus to create an USB flash drive with the local ISO which let me in turn later install this Windows 10 on another computer?

    "Why?" - Because it was not designed to do that.

    "How can I tell MCT to select an ISO from local hard disk?" - You can't.

    "Can I use Rufus to create an USB flash drive with the local ISO which let me in turn later install this Windows 10 on another computer?" - Yes

    You could, but it's really not necessary. I always use Option Four in the tutorial Try3 gave a link for above. That produces a usb that is identical in all respects to the one the MCT would make.

    In addition to the tutorial I mentioned above

    I have just finished updating my guide to making InstallUSBs from downloaded Windows ISO files that contain install.wim [instead of the install.esd that the MCT uses].

    Because I use this procedure, I do not need to use Rufus or any other external tools.

    @Brink,

    On the topic of ISO files, do you know whether Media Creation Tool for W10 is still creates an ISO file reading as 19041.1288, or have they updated it? Many thanks for your time!

    Hello Mike,

    I just download to see, and it's still showing 19041.1288, but will actually install 19043.1288.

    Yep, I suspected as much. I am afraid MS doesn't love us W10 users any more ... snif snif
