Anyway what I did few month ago is uninstalling Windows Update Medic service which ending up removing windows updates service, After that I reinstall it back and since then no updates, I also killed windows defender and deleted all tasks from system32 Drove me nuts.

I been have issue with 1809 build of Home and it updates, I set to metered which should stop all downloads, it dont it just downloads then installs them, it also for some reason stop WU from checking for updates every day.

I just know Metered connection dont work right for me on this home pc, it worked fine with the previous build, cause on 1803 it was set to metered, and any and all updates pushed notification about updates the required me to click on download to get it. 1809 I dont know what wrong with it but meter just dont work.

And this was clean install of 1809 and not and stand in place upgrade.

Well, Tsunami, I think we know that the Home Edition has some parts and functions that are either abbreviated or missing, and I really advise upgrading the OS to the Pro version. That's what I did, anyway, and haven't regretted the cost involved.

It's interesting that another posting here links to a second update-killer, and I'd really like to know if it differs from Shawn's which still seems to work fine. I recently allowed the 1903 version download, and so far all seems to be fine. I did have reason to believe that something did reset Enable Automatic Maintenance, but I turned it back off again and haven't seen it run in the past few days.

I wonder if Shaun might be coerced into chiming-in with some sort of 'sticky' that would update us on the whole update situation. I can't believe that our friends in Redmond haven't executed the killer yet.

I have noticed some new Update options in v1903. One of them is to postpone the updates for 7 days, I do not remember the others. Old tricks like running show/hide to block unwanted updates should still work, so you can just block specific updates, you don't need to completely disable Windows Update.

Yes, you can actually pause updates (haven't tried it) and I think you can also change the interval. But you will have to do them eventually, so the best way to block an unwanted update (usually a driver update in old computers) is to use the Windows Update show/hide tool

That seems an ideal solution to this problem. As it's sort of a 'third party' fix, I'd be grateful if a few people try it and like it before downloading, of course, although I have consummate trust in Brink and his excellent recommendations.

How does WAU Manager disable Windows automatic updates? Locks system files as Sledgehammer does? I am sticking with the commands plagiarized from Sledgehammer.
