Hey Shawn, I just did a fresh install of 15063.0>15063.14 Pro in a Hyper-V VM. I have no option for Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen. The toggle is missing.

Also something I found strange it the fact that the registry had a NoLockSreen key and it was set to 1. I changed it to 0 and that got rid of the Some settings are managed by your organization message but I still have no option for Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen. I have not configured a any group policy.

I saw you registry info at beginning of post and I checked my registry. I don't have a LockScreen key in any of my SIDs.

I solved the issue with not having Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen option by using the information in this tut you did.

Enable or Disable Sign-in Screen Background Image in Windows 10

The DisableLogonBackgroundImage DWORD was set to one. How this happened with a clean install is beyond me. Now if I could only figure out why LockScreen_O is not being created in SystemData I would be good to go. It seems that the more I think I know the more Windows mocks me. I sure have a lot of problems with the Lock Screen.

Great news Tracit. Odd that it was disabled on a clean install like that.

I have always had a issue whereby my chosen lockscreen picture is not displayed when I autologin with MS or local account, displaying the default cave picture.

No matter what I tried, I could not change this. I reset spotlight and then set to my chosen picture and it worked!

But then next time I booted pc, back to default cave picture!

I then tried to disable screen using this tutorial, and no cave picture was gone but no chosen pictute of course.

Then I reenabled the background image by setting the dword to 0 (rather than deleting it), and IT WORKED. I now see my chosen picture on my login screen whilst it auto logs in.

It seems if DWORD is not set at all (no DWORD at all, it defaults to cave picture). This may be a bug of course, but things work fine now.

Would you happen to know if there is now a System wide option to disable the Sign in Screen background?

This is a very odd REG key, it's under HKLM yet is user specific, so you kind of think why on earth isn't it part of HKCU or why bother making it user specific in the first place. To me makes more sense that they implement this as HKLM without user specific SIDS, seems far more complicated than it needs to be. Anyway, such is life.

I'm making a custom environment and would like this background image to be disabled on all users, being HKLM I doubt it's possible to create a default user in there?
My other thought was, do I just delete all the background files in C:\Windows\Web?
We don't use them for our environment because it can slow down remote connections.

I have tried to disable the Lock Screen entirely but it keeps coming back on it's own accord.
    C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.LockApp_...

    Many Thanks

    Hello AGT,

You could use the method in the tutorial below to disable the sign-in screen background image for all users.

Apologies I meant the Lock Screen, not the Sign-In screen , would correct above but the Edit Post is missing.
I tried to disable the lock screen app entirely via "Software Restriction Policies" in the Group Policy Editor but it only works some of the time.
If I could remove the pictures easily for all accounts on the lock screen then that would be half the battle solved.

The sign in screen you link is already working like a charm.

No worries. If you haven't already, you might see if an option in the tutorial below may be able to disable the lock screen for you.
