So...any solution, via registry or otherwise, to get the Quick Launch icons to scale up in size to match taskbar icons yet when taskbar buttons are set to small? This is rather annoying, and gets my latent OCD going. :) Here's what I mean, in case it's not clear...

I'm afraid only manually using step 6 in option one as far as I know.

That's actually not a solution to the problem I'm referring to (as you acknowledge).

Still, I'd imagine there must be some kind of registry tweak that would address this. Has anyone tried to find that setting?

I suppose as a workaround you could back up your taskbar toolbars to be able to restore easier as needed.

Playing around, it took me many tries to find the right spot in the QL toolbar to bring up the menu with the View option. I wish there was a medium sized icon choice, although I find the small ones adequate. Another problem with large is that it doesn't change the size of the pinned icons on the left -- and there I couldn't find a place to bring up View.

Oh, I found the latter, under Settings > Taskbar, although it's not easy finding the spot to get the menu with Settings either.

I'm not sure how that addresses the problem I'm referring to. They would be the same size; no?

The small ones look out of place, however, when compared to taskbar icons that are pinned or simply apps running windowed or open folders.

Truth be told, I'd sooner have those reduced in size to gain more window space than size up the Quick Launch icons, but something has to give one way or the other to prevent my pulling my hair out.

They would be the same size as whatever you set them to be when backed up.

    It's basically for next time.

But that would indicate there is a setting to change that would be backed up...so where is that setting?

The registry location is in the tutorial below I posted for this, but it's stored in TaskbarWinXP as a binary value that is impossible to know for individual toolbars.

This is the main reason this is a workaround to be able to restore the toolbar later on any account or computer if needed after backing it up.

    Quick Launch Icons Blank

Thanks for another excellent tutorial. I was chuffed when all went according to plan, despite the hoops jumped through to make shortcut icons to drag into quick launch: I'd basically got my Win7 toolbar back! However my triumph was short lived. After rebooting, two of my four quick launch icons had turned into blank/white file icons. Notepad and Firefox were still there but I.E. and eM Client were blank.

Add or Remove Quick Launch toolbar in Windows 10-quick-launch.jpg

The blank links still worked but the only way i could get the eM Client icon back was to right-click on the eM Client blank>properties>change icon and select the icon offered from (conveniently enough) %ProgramFiles(x86)%\eM Client\MailClient.exe. I could do a similar exercise with the I.E. blank icon. But after a reboot, i was 'back to blank' on those same two icons.

Is there a solution you could offer for this particular problem, please?

Edit: I should say that I have already tried rebuilding the iconcache.
