The bit below in the note box is for that though.
Yes but somebody who has never heard of Windows hello will not know that that comment applies to them and will, as in the example thread, spend their lives looking for a solution.
    - I know your link is going to the same tutorial as I posted a link to.
    - But your bolded Hello link wording rather overpowers the sentence.
Perhaps the yellow-backgound note could be edited to make an explicit reference linking
the non-appearance of the NetPlWiz checkbox
    to
    turning off passwordless sign-in
    &
the tutorial Enable or Disable Passwordless Sign-in - TenForumsTutorials

Actually, I thought the original tutorial wording used to be something like If there is no checkbox in the NetPlWiz dialog then disable passwordless sign-in using
Enable or Disable Passwordless Sign-in - TenForumsTutorials
[For those not signed into an MSAccount, passwordless sign-in can be disabled using Option 2.]

    All the best,

I changed the wording to help make it more clear.

As soon as I followed the steps (option 1) outlined here, I found that hitting Win+L would make my system lock around every 5 seconds. I know how stupid that sounds, but that's what happens. I can enter my password and get to the Desktop, but Windows locks again after a couple seconds.

I logged in as the admin user and undid the change, and of course rebooted, but it still happens. I don't have auto-login anymore, but this issue persists.

Everything is fine until I hit Win+L. After that point, the system locks every few seconds.

    WTH is going on here?

    Hello,

Did you by chance set the security policy below for that?

Yeah, apparantly I had set it to 305 seconds a long time ago. Would this be the reason?

You can set it to "0" to disable as a test to see if it continues afterwards.

I set it to 0 and rebooted. Now, the same thing still happens twice.
The first time the lock screen appears, I have dismiss it and enter my password (as expected).
The second time the lock screen appears, when I simply click on it, the lock screen disappears (with up-scrolling animation, no less) and brings me to the Desktop.
    After that, things are normal.
I don't understand why the lock screen would appear that second time. Bizarre.
