    So the difference is that in cmd you set "create partition primary" & "active" and this will make it bootable.. I was thinking that right click-format will also do that

    Correct, along with the other commands.

    Nar, right click-format will only format.

    Hi Shawn,

    The installation media (ex: ISO or USB) must be the same edition and same or newer build as your currently installed Windows 10. If it's not, then the repair install will fail.
    My Windows Defender was broken, so I did the Windows 10 repair upgrade. Everything went fine, mechanically.

    I was hoping you could clear up something for me. I was running 1903.

    MCT will currently create a USB for Windows 10 build 18362.356 as of October 3, 2019
    Which is Windows 1903, but further down the page iy says

    Save the MediaCreationTool1909.exe file (version 10.0.18363.418) to your desktop, and run it
    When i saw MediaCreationTool1909.exe, I was concerned, because my intention was to avoid 1909 so early in it's inception, learning the hard way in the past that it's prudent to let them iron out all the kinks before upgrading.

    Did I miss a more explicit disclaimer that I would be bumped up to 1909?

    Am I worrying about nothing? How is 1909 working for you?

    @Shawn

    Is there a way to go from 1803 to 1903, not 1909?

    If you have a 1903 ISO, you can use it to upgrade instead.

    Upgrade to Windows 10
