I have used the repair installation from a downloaded iso many times without any problems. Today I cannot get the downloaded iso to mount. I tried a previous iso that worked and have the same problem. The iso's will not mount. I can transfer the iso file to another computer and it will mount correctly. I have checked the default app setting (windows explorer) and it appears to be correct.
I am considering trying the Media Creation Tool to do the repair, I have done a backup so I can reinstall if it messes up.
What do I need to do to get the iso to mount on this computer?
Hello,
If wanted, other than the Media Creation Tool, you could try using the ISO to create a USB with to use for the repair install instead.
Create Bootable USB Flash Drive to Install Windows 10
I considered that option also. I am in the process of using the Media Creation Tool option right now.
I have no idea why the iso will not mount, I have done a search and have tried all the methods I have found with no luck. First time I have had this problem.

UPDATE: Just finished the repair install with the Media Creation Tool, no problems, now at 19044.1889 . Also the ISO will now mount after the update.

I will most probably need to repair-install my w10 pro, currently on 19045.2311.
Latest ISO provided by Microsoft is 19045.2006 (which is older).
Would it be safe to use it?
I've posted in these forums a particular problem that maybe could be solved with an in-place upgrade repair, but there are complications that don't belong in this thread.
Please go to my TenForums post at Dual-boot 10+7 HDD cloned to NVMe won't start from NVMe and leave your suggestions there.
Thanks.
