    How to Leave Windows Insider Program to Unregister Account


    When you join the Windows Insider program to register your Microsoft Account (MSA) or your Azure Active Directory (AAD) account with the program, you will receive emails from the Windows Insider Program with updates and information about the program. You will also be able to set Windows 10 to start getting Insider Preview builds to get all the new features that are on the way and help Microsoft make Windows 10 even better.

    If you set Windows 10 to stop getting Insider preview builds, you will still continue to receive emails from the Windows Insider program. If you would like to stop receiving emails from the Windows Insider Program, you will need to unregister your Microsoft Account (MSA) or your Azure Active Directory (AAD) account associated with the Windows Insider Program.

    This tutorial will show you how to leave the Windows Insider Program to unregister your Microsoft Account (MSA) or Azure Active Directory (AAD) account from the program.

    It is recommended to stop getting preview builds on all your Windows 10 devices before leaving the Windows Insider Program for your Microsoft Account (MSA) or your Azure Active Directory (AAD) account.




    Here's How:

    1 Go to the Windows Insider Program website, and sign in (if not already) with your Microsoft Account (MSA) or your Azure Active Directory (AAD) account associated with the Windows Insider Program.

    2 Scroll down to the bottom of the Windows Insider Program website, and click/tap on the Leave the Program link. (see screenshots below)

    3 Click/tap on the Leave the program now button to confirm on the Leave the Windows Insider Program page. (see screenshot below)

    4 You will now see the You are no longer registered confirmation page. (see screenshot below)

    I left Windows Insider some 3 years ago and I thought that I had gone through all the steps to make sure I wi wouldn't be reminded of it but now I see this in Windows Update> Advanced Options, why?

    Does this computer have an Insider build installed?

    If you go to the Windows Insiders page in Settings, does it show you are joined?

    My Version of winver:

    There may be a difference on the second line and the Dev part which used to be the Fast Ring. What I get on the Update and Security page and the last entry on the left column:

    Hi Shawn, hope you are well. As far as I can tell I expunged the insider version.
    Here are what Winver and what WIP controls look like on my machine (The website says I'm not joined).

    The Windows Insider Program page in Settings looks like when you opt to stop getting Insider builds, and waiting for the next feature update for it to be officially out of the Insider program.

    As a test, temporarily turn on optional diagnostic data below, and see what the Windows Insider Program page in Settings shows afterwards.

    Change Diagnostic Data Settings in Windows 10

    This will let us see if this is just a generic message since you had it turned off, or if you really are still set to get Insider builds.
