Mount Drive to a Folder in Windows 10  

Hello all. I'm just catching up with technology and have a 64GB SSD! I'm planning a (complcated) Windows install which will involve several HDDs - all formatted to NTFS
Disk # For Size
------- ----------- -------
Disk 0 Windows OS 59 GB (Win alone is about 20GB)
Disk 1 Programs 465 GB
Disk 2 Users 931 GB
Disk 3 Temp 465 GB

Disk 1 is partitioned into two Volumes
Programs 238469MB (E:)
Prog_x86 238469MB (F:)

So, my commands to set the basic structure for install should be
C:\> md "Windows"
C:\> md "Program Files"
C:\> md "Program Files (x86)"
C:\> diskpart
DISKPART> Select Disk 1
DISKPART> Select Volume 1
DISKPART> assign mount = "C:\Program Files"
DISKPART> Select Volume 2
DISKPART> assign mount = "C:\Program Files (x86)"
DISKPART> Select Disk 2
DISKPART> assign mount = "C:\Users"
?

Will Install muck this up?

Regarding OP's Option 4: ...or you could just use a Mac.

Sorry; as a former Mac user, I just had to note that for Microsoft to rely upon this process (so we could --not-so-simply-- dispense with the 40 year old reliance upon drive letters) is just about as dumb as a rock.

Luckily, I've read through your original post and have learned that Option #1 should do the job. It appears I can just delete the drive letter that Windows assigned (which, as a USB drive, may not ever appear as that letter again). As well, there are apps (SyncBackSE, for one) that may be told to ignore drive letters entirely and use either the drive name or unique ID (and effectively work around the shifting drive letter issue). Developers whose apps that don't allow—nay, encourage—the alternatives to drive letters will surely get left behind; DOS needs to die.

Sometimes it's tough to post the humor I intend so, if my post is taken as anything other than an attempt at humor with some appreciation for the OP's diligent work, it wasn't meant to.

Hello Brink, are you aware if there is a way to add these mounted drives to "my computer" with the rest of the drives. It's very annoying not to be able to quickly see how much space is being used on these drives. I have to manually right click and go to properties each time.
