I have read the first ten-odd lines of the code. Two lines say the following:
    Code:
REM SET DRIVE LETTER OF MOUNTED DRIVE - IF DRIVE LETTER IS WRONG, BATCH WILL NOT WORK.
    set ISODRIVE=E
I have attached a simple script by way of demonstration. The script will automatically set the correct drive letter. Users do not have to do so manually.

    Hi Cereberus,

many thanks for working this out and also for keeping it updated.

I'd like to point on a missing point at step 7 (which is included in your script):

    assign letter=R

    for partition 2.

I also miss some handling of an existing install.esd from the mounted source image. I'm right now in the testing of your solution and will come back when I figured out, if this actually is an issue and if, how to get rid of it.

Update1: Seen in the discussion, that you suggest replacing the .esd with custom .wim. This would make some steps of the original post obsolete. Still working out a suggestion...

    Hi Kari and everyone,

I am using an external SSD simply because I don't have an empty/usable USB flash drive. I have the two partitions; 1. FAT32 and 2. NTFS on the SSD drive with the install.wim on partition two (NTFS) and all other files on partition one (FAT32). The disk boots up just fine, but when it comes to the install stage, I get a message that the ISO install file could not be found. Is there a way to make my configuration work out?

    Kind regards,

    tecknot

Further to my post above, my install.wim file is 147GB which I captured from an existing installation of Windows 10 Pro with additional applications installed.

    Kind regards,

Copy the entire sources folder (except the regular install.wim ) onto the the ntfs partition.

move your captured install.wim file into the ntfs partition sources folder.

    Then setup.exe should find it.

OR find the letter of the ntfs partition and use the /installfrom switch e.g.

    X:\Setup.exe /InstallFrom:"H:\install.wim"

Or use something else to apply the wim image.

Thanks SIW2. I will give it a go.

    Hi SIW2,

I tried copying the source folder over to the NTFS partition and place the install.wim file inside it. Unfortunately, that didn't do the trick and I got the same error. I then tried the switch but that didn't work either. I then tried to Apply the image from the tutorial (Apply Windows Image using DISM Instead of Clean Install). That took me to 64% of the way but then got an error (No. 1) "incorrect function." Did a search for the error code, but found nothing that applies. I'll give it another shot and see what happens.

    Kind regards,

    Hi SIW2,

Offline (WinPE) via DISM with this command:
    Code:
    DISM /capture-image /imagefile:H:\install.wim /capturedir:C:\ /ScratchDir:H:\Scratch /name:”Win_10_capture”/compress:maximum /checkintegrity /verify /bootable
I tried to apply the image again but got the same result.

    Kind regards,
