    Strange Skype / Windows (?) Audio Problem.


    I have been successfully using Skype just about forever.

    Now suddenly when I make a Skype-out call after the line starts to ring I get audio but it is very weak.

    I cannot adjust the volume with the windows sliders or Skype settings.

    The sound reminds me of someone talking in metal can.

    It actually sounds better than I have heard before but the very low volume offsets the tone improvement.

    I have not tested the quality of inbound calls: my use is exclusively outbound connections.

    Problem is the same for Skype to Skype and Skype to POTS.

    I have been through all the audio settings in Skype and Windows.

    I cannot find anything in either venue that speaks to the volume going down ONLY when making an outbound call.

    I called a couple of numbers with my Google number and did not have any problems.

    I cannot find content in the Internet that even mentions this problem.

    Has anybody here had this problem? Have a fix?

    The first step in solving this issue was hearing a very faint audio output from the back of my HP large screen monitor.

    Then I found this procedur. It worked :). All seems well now, but I am holding my breath.
