Umm, to what does 'that' refer?

You've not posted any screenshots to show your settings..

Try with a different PC to see if you can get any equaliser working anywhere.

Else I think you'll need to connect your PC to suitable audio quipment with tone controls/physical equaliser.
"That" was a reference to Post#5

Where OP states: "Note that I have also tried to change the values from config.txt but nothing seems to change"

If installing either of the GUI addons config.txt sets (on my machine) peace.txt as the source file.

    So it uses:

So there is no need to make changes here to config.txt

Not all PCs get Realtek with an equaliser for example. It simply isn't there.
@Crnl - see possible fix in post #13
    Two separate issues...

    1) - The OP's Z390 board has a Realtek® ALC S1220A, which is in the same class as my Realtek® ALC1220-VB on my board Gigabyte Z390 board. The drivers for those should have an EQ included.

Additionally, if the drivers are UAD as mine are, you need to get the Realtek Audio Console from the Microsoft Store (for free) as described in this post - Realtek Audio Console REQUIRES a Realtek HD (UAD) Driver!!

Here's my Gigabyte Z390 board with an ALC1220-VB Realtek chip....

    2) - It's NOT that the OP doesn't have an EQ installed (thus no third party required) - it's that the current EQ has become un-responsive since a driver update...
    Crnl said:
I have recently downloaded the Realtek (R) Audio drivers from my motherboard manufacturer. All is working quite well a part from the EQ. I can access the EQ but moving the sliders [B]don't change the sound.
Thus offering a "third party solution isn't solving the issue... it's just hiding it. With that I would suggest the OP post a screen shot of their EQ settings/page.

    Peace:)

    Already suggested in Post #12

Since you have pretty much the same setup I reckon that you are better qualified to help!

So it's better to uninstall EqualizerAPO before messing with Realtek drivers.

    I could be wrong,
but the driver version formats for my Asus board are
    a) x.x.x.xxxx (e.g. 6.0.1.8573) for non-UAD drivers and
    b) x.x.xxxx.x (e.g. 6.0.8702.1) for UAD drivers

OP writes that the driver version is 6.0.1.8666, indicating a non-UAD driver

"The ASUS Realtek Audio Console has the following information:
    Audio driver version: 6.0.1.8666
    UI Version: 1.1.137.0"
on the other hand indicates that OP is using the Asus control app (available in Microsoft Store) that REQUIRES a UAD driver.

As i myself was very confused over this a couple of moths ago, here is my simplified explanation:

Non-UAD Realtek drivers are the "old" or classic type, quite large and they install a loudspeaker icon in system tray/notification area. Settings can be accessed by double-clicking the loudspeaker-icon and looks something like this:
Equalizer not working in Asus Realtek Audio console-old.jpg

UAD-drivers are much smaller and when installed they do not install any icons in the system tray. To change setting you have to install (separately) an app from Microsoft Store. In the case of my Asus board, the latest driver v. 6.0.8702.1 is a UAD format driver and the download from Asus inlcudes the app (everything installs auomatically when double-clicking "AsusSetup.exe" in the main folder ). Anyway, the settings app (in my case called Asus Realtek Audio Control) can be accessed through the windows 10 Start-menu (Start > Realtek Audio Console), and looks like this:

Just checked the drivers for your motherboard on the Asus site and they do appear to be UAD drivers, even if the format is 6.0.1.8666. Maybe you should just disregard what i wrote above....

The download folder from Asus contains UWP v. 1.2.175.0 (this should be the Audio Console):
Maybe try to reinstall the console that came with the driver (UWP > RtkUWP_1.2.175.0 > AsusSetup.exe)

I would agree with you. However, going to the downloads page for that board, the OP is only offered the "non-UAD drivers - Version 6.0.1.8666.

At any rate (again) it would help to see the panel with the EQ that the OP says isn't working.

Hi MoKiChU, heard a lot of good things about you and your knowledge of Realtek drivers. Glad to see you posting here.

And thanks for the info posted. Hopefully this helps the OP (if they decide to return).

Hi everybody. Thank you very much for your support and sorry for not getting back to you earlier.

I will try following the guide from MoKiChU because all the other tests I have done (with APO) did not have any effect.

For your information, I share below a screenshot of the equalizer from Realtek:

I will shortly get back to you after I tried installing the drivers suggested.

I am currently experiencing the same exact problem as OP. Upgraded my mobo to the asus z390 and just cant seem to figure out whats wrong with the equalizer. Ive been following along in the post to find a answer and it seems like the user "Mokichu" may have answered it since OP hasnt come back since. My only issue is that i cant see what Mokichu posted, its just not there as if it may have been deleted. Disheartening because i think whatever he said will fix my issue. Excuse my ignorance if im missing something but any help is greatly appreciated.
